5 awarded life imprisonment for dacoity and murder

A local court awarded double life imprisonment to five and life sentence to six others including three women for dacoity and murder of a timber merchant in 2012.

It was awarded by Additional Session Judge AK Singh.

The court awarded double life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 28,000 each against Suraj (47), Devendra (20), Chikan (20), Karan (20) and Chandrabhan (20) under Sections 120 B, 396, 412 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The judge also imposed a fine of Rs 28,000 each against them.

The court also awarded life imprisonment to Deepabai (30), Suklibai (35), Ladobai (50), Pavan (25), Kheru (20) and Kalia (22) under Section 120 B and Section 412 as well as imposed a fine of Rs 18,000 each against them.
 

All of them are the residents of Guna district and belong to Pardhi tribe.

Allegedly, they killed a timber merchant, Jasbir Singh Chhabra (51) in the Khatiwala Tank area and looted Rs 5 lakh in cash and valuables worth Rs 15 lakh.
