Five people, including two children, were drowned in two separate incidents in Jammu and Rajouri districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Four brothers were crossing a river on way to their home in Kalaban belt of Manjakote tehsil in Rajouri district when the flash floods washed them away, a senior police officer said today.
On receiving information, the army, police and locals rushed to the area and launched rescue operation. One Farooq Ahmed was rescued, while his three brothers - Aurangzem (ration dealer), Alam Hussain and Javen Hussain were carried away by the water, he said.

The bodies were later recovered and handed over to their family, he said.
In another incident, an eighth class student Anil Kumar and a minor girl, Pooja (8), were washed away in flash floods in Tawi river in Jammu today, police officials said.
Locals and police have launched search and rescue operation to trace them, they said.
