5 engineering college students arrested for ragging in Hyd

Cyberabad Police today arrested five third-year students of JNTU engineering college here for allegedly ragging a junior student at the institute's hostel in Kukatpally here.

Vamsidhar Reddy, Dilip, Vijay, Mahesh, Praveen and Vamsi, all third-year B-Tech students, called a second-year student to a hostel room two days ago and asked him to play piano, police said.

Scared, he tried to flee, but the accused caught him and beat him. They also made him kneel down for one hour, after which he fainted, as per the complaint.

Except Vamsi, who is absconding, others were arrested today. Further investigation is on.
