5 faint during melee at Suraj Sankalp Yatra rally

Five persons fainted during a melee at the Suraj Sankalp Yatra's concluding day rally here and had to be helped out by policemen from the Amroodon ka bag ground.

The incident occurred when BJP supporters jostled with each other demanding that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi address the rally first.

As the crowd swelled with party volunteers and youths even climbing atop poles of tents, five rallyists fainted.

Policemen and party volunteers posted at the rally ground rushed to help them.

During the commotion that followed, Modi and BJP President Rajnath Singh requested the public to sit down and restore normalcy.
 

A large number of people including booth level workers, elected representatives of panchayats, civic bodies, and MLAs, MPs, and new aspirants seeking tickets participated in the rally.
