5 family members killed in road accident in Doda

In a tragic incident, five family members, including three children, were killed today when their car skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge near Kashore-Babore area in Jammu's Doda district.

The car was on its way to Jatheli area in Doda district when it skidded veered off the road and fell into a gorge while negotiating a sharp curve near Kashore-Babore area, police said.

After receiving information, locals and police reached the spot and shifted all the injured passengers to District Hospital Doda where doctors declared two of them as brought dead, they said.

Later, other three also succumbed to their injuries during the treatment, they added.
 

Preliminary reports suggest that the driver perhaps lost control of the car while negotiating a sharp curve as the road at the place of accident was very narrow, said DySP Doda Nazir Ahmed Ganai.

"All the 5 family members were declared dead by the doctors at Doda hospital," he added.

Meanwhile, at least 28 persons were injured in twin road accidents in Jammu and Poonch districts.

At least 21 persons were injured in a road mishap in Poonch district this evening, police said, adding that the further details are awaited.

In another incident, a matador turned turtle in Bari Brahamana area in Jammu district, injuring seven people who were hospitalised later on today, police said.
