The German Foreign Ministry says five Germans have been killed in two separate incidents in Africa.

The ministry said today that two Germans were killed last weekend in Nigeria. It declined to give further details but said it was investigating the cases in close cooperation with Nigerian authorities.

Germany media reported the two men, who worked for the German construction company Julius Berger, had not returned from a motorcycle trip. The company could not immediately be reached for comment.

Last October, gunmen kidnapped a man and killed another German who had also worked for Julius Berger.

In a separate incident, the foreign ministry said, three Germans were killed in a car accident in Namibia on Monday.
