A court here has awarded life imprisonment to five people for killing a former village head and his brother in the double murder case of 2015.
Additional District Sessions Judge Gaurav Kumar Srivastava also imposed a fine of Rs 38,000 on each of the accused - Satish, Dharmendra, Satbir, Sandeep and Sanjiv -- after holding them guilty under Indian Penal Code section 302 (murder) and other relevant sections.
Government lawyer Jitendra Tyagi said former gram pradhan Vinod Kumar and his brother Pramod were shot dead at the New Mandi station area near here when they were on their way to attend a court hearing from their village Kasumpur on February 2, 20015.
The court directed the accused that they will pay half of the fine amount to the family of the deceased.
