Five persons were arrested on Monday for their involvement in a dacoity and killing of a 60-year-old salesman of a liquor shop at Jagadalpur village in Ganjam district, police said.
The incident took place under the jurisdiction of Berhampur Sadar police station, on Wednesday, October 3, the police said.
The deceased was identified as Bijaya Kumar Dakua (62) and he was a resident of Jagadalpur village, a police officer said, adding, the salesman's body was recovered on Thursday morning.
The five accused are also residents of the same village, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Berhampur Sadar, A K Mohanty, said.
They looted Rs 20,000 from the liquor shop and killed the salesman before leaving it, Mohanty said.
The accused have confessed to their crime, the Inspector-in-Charge (IC) of Berhampur Sadara police station, Siba Shankar Mohapatra, said.
