5 hospitals in J-K to be upgraded to GMC hospitals level: Min

Jammu and Kashmir government will upgrade five hospitals at par with Government Medical College (GMC) hospitals, Health Minister Choudhary Lal Singh said here today.

"The Government is on the job to upgrade five hospitals of the state at par with Government Medical Colleges hospitals so that the patients rush in the main city hospitals is reduced," Singh said while speaking at the 75th foundation day of Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) hospital.

He said instructions have been issued to the hospitals functionaries in this regard, adding hospitals of the rural pockets and remote areas have been equipped with infrastructural facilities and medicines along with adequate staff.
 

The government is making all out efforts to provide round- the-clock healthcare facilities to people and has initiated revolutionary steps to upgrade the overall health scenario in the state.

Paying tributes to Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh, the minister said that contribution of Maharaja for welfare and development of the state would be recognised and remembered by generations to come.

He described him as a visionary, brave and great human being who provided justice to all and treated the public as his own family members.
