5 hurt in grenade blast by suspected NDFB militants

The injured have been admitted to Lower Assam Hospital and Research Center

Five persons, including three children, were injured in a grenade attack by suspected NDFB terrorists in front of an automobile showroom at North Bongaigaon in Lower Assam today, police said.

The militants hurled the grenade from a tempo aimed at the showroom this evening. However, the grenade exploded on the roadside after hitting the wall of the building without causing any damage to the showroom, Bongaigaon Superintendent of Police Abhijit Bora said.

Five passengers in another tempo which passed through the spot as the greande exploded, were injured.

"Involvement of NDFB militants is suspected," the SP said.

The injured have been admitted to Lower Assam Hospital and Research Center.
 
The showroom owner said he had been receiving ransom demands from a militant group identifying itself as the NDFB.
