5 injured in clash over power supply in UP

At least five persons were injured in a clash between two groups over power supply in Shafipur village here, following which 29 people have been arrested, police said today.

The incident occurred yesterday evening when a Dalit group tried to get power supply from a particular transformer which was opposed by another group, and a clash followed in which both sides used sharp weapons and stones against each other, SHO, Budhana Police Station, Arun Kumar said.

A case of rioting and attempting to murder was registered against 37 people, and 29 people have been arrested so far, he said.

Security, with deployment of extra personnel, has been tightened in the area and the situation is under control, the officer added.
 

Meanwhile, a local court today sent the 29 arrested people to judicial custody till June 4.
