Five kg of heroin, worth Rs 25 crore, was seized by BSF personnel at Daoke village near Indo-Pak border.

Confirming the seizure, BSF DIG R S Kataria today said that the troops saw suspicious movement of Pakistani smugglers near International Border yesterday at about 7:45 pm.

"The smugglers reached near the fence and started throwing something. The BSF troops warned them to stop. But the unfazed smugglers paid no heed to the repeated warnings after which the troops opened fire," Kataria said.

However, the smugglers managed to escape taking cover of thick vegetation and darkness, he added.

Later while conducting a thorough search of the area, BSF troops recovered 5 packets of contraband.
