5 killed, 8 injured in two separate road mishaps

Five persons were killed and eight others injured in two road accidents in different parts of the district, police said today.

Three people were killed and eight injured in a tanker-tempo collision near the Ambedkar Park culvert under Pipri police station this morning, police said.

Three passengers of the tempo -- Raja Ram (55), Vikas Gupta (21) and an unidentified woman -- were killed in the incident, they added.

The injured were admitted to a hospital from where, three of them, whose condition was stated to be serious, were referred to Varanasi, police said.

In another accident, two motorcyclists were killed after being hit by a truck at the Hindwari turn under Robertsganj police station last night, police said, adding that one of the deceased was identified as Amarnath (35).
