Five persons were killed and two others sustained injuries when a speeding car collided with an autorickshaw near Aslali crossroad here last night.
The autorickshaw was going to Aslali Gam from Narol locality in the city when the car hit it at the crossroad at around 10 pm yesterday, a police official said today.
"While two passengers of the autorickshaw died on the spot, three others, who were also travelling in the three-wheeler, succumbed to their injuries during treatment at a hospital this morning," he said.
The two other injured passengers are undergoing treatment at the hospital, the official said.
The car driver fled after abandoning his vehicle at the accident site, he said.
Police are trying to trace the car owner, he added.
