Organised by mobile services provider Uninor and women rights group Shimul, the run was flagged off from Rabindra Sarobar Stadium.
Along with 100 girls from the NGO, the marathon had personalities from various walks of life including MP Tapas Pal, former Mayor Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya and actress Locket Chatterjee participating to lend support and raise funds for the cause.
The funds will go in support of meritorious women from the districts of West Bengal by providing them lodging and boarding facilities and helping them to pursue higher education.
