Five militants were killed today in a security operation carried out by a Pakistani paramilitary force in the restive Balochistan province near the border with Iran.
The military operation carried out by the Frontier Corps in the Kech district came a day after eight Iranian border guards were killed by suspected militants in a town near the Pakistan-Iran border in the province.
Deputy Commissioner Kech Sirmad Ali Khan said that the the five militants, including a father and son, were killed during the operation by Frontier Corps.

The suspected militants were said to be involved in a series of attacks on Frontier Corps personnel and other security installations near the Pakistan and Iran border.
The Iranian media reported that eight Iranian border guards were killed in a town in the Sistan and Baluchestan province close to the border.
