Security forces arrested five naxals in a raid in the jungle between villages Johohatu-Chandor in Naxal-affected Khunti district, a senior police officer today said.
Superintendent of Police, Anish Gupta said the security forces led by Assistant Commandant of 133 battalion of CRPF, Pawan Kumar Gautam conducted raid in the jungle and arrested Moga Hasa, Sachin alias Deep Tuti, Birsa Munda, Mangra Munda and Dawud Nag last evening.
Seven others managed to escape along with firearms, he said adding that a country-made pistol, six live cartridges, letter pad, six mobile phones and a looted motorcycle seized from them.
The arrested Maoists, who were wanted in various cases including murder, and under Arms Act and CLA Act, were all members of armed squad of Dasam Fall Area Committee of the ultra outfit, Gupta said.
