5 persons sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering guard

Five persons, including a woman, were sentenced to life imprisonment by a court here today for murdering a forest guard and severely beating another employee.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 6,000 on each of the five convicts and ordered officials to collect Rs 40,000 from each of them as compensation to the family of the deceased.

District and Sessions Court judge Ashok Kumar Vyas sentenced Ramswroop Gujjar, his wife Kailesh Bai, Gurgaram Gujjar, Pappu Gujjar and Ganeshram Meghwal, all resident of Gopalpura of Bundi district, for murdering Shyar Singh and severely injuring Dhirendra Singh.

Shayar was beaten to death with sticks and iron rods while Dhirendra was severely injured after they had found the accused indulging in illegal mining in forest area in Dabi village on April 17, 2013.
 

A case under sections 147, 148, 332/149, 353/139 and 302/149 of IPC was lodged against the five in Dabi police station.
