5 school girls injured in school van-tanker mishap

5 school girls were injured today when the school van they were travelling in was hit by a tanker in Kalyanpur area here, police said.

The school van carrying ten girl students, aged between 12 to 16 years, was hit by a tanker coming from opposite directions near Bhuteshvar temple this afternoon, injuring 5 girls and driver of the van, Kalyanpur police station in-charge Alok Mani Tripathi said.

All the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital where condition of one of the girl was said to be critical, Tripathi said.

Police has seized the tanker but its driver managed to flee from the spot, he said.
 

A man hunt has been launched to nab the absconding driver.
