5 vehicle thieves held

Police today claimed to have busted

a gang of vehicle thieves with the arrest of five youths in this connection.

The youths were caught while trying to sell a stolen car, DCP (Crime) Rajesh Duggal told reporters here.

The arrested have been identified as Yogesh, Nitin, Raj Kumar, Ravi Kumar and Raghubir.

Ravi was the leader of the gang, the DCP said.

According to police, the gang used to buy damaged cars from the market and then steal the vehicle of the same brand. Afterwards, they would put the damaged car's registration number on the stolen vehicle and sell them.
 

The gang had stolen around 40 vehicles from Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan in the last one year, Duggal said.
