As many as 50 persons, including businessmen and hotel owners, were arrested for their alleged involvement in gambling and Rs 5.89 lakh was seized from their possession, police said today.
These people were arrested when they were gambling at a club in Wagle Estate locality yesterday, Wagle Estate police station senior inspector A D Kshirsagar said.
They belong from various places including Pune, Nashik, Jalgaon and parts of Mumbai. Eleven club employees were also among those nabbed, he said.
The club owner Babu Salvi has been apprehended and a case under relevant sections of the Bombay Gambling Act has been registered, Kshirsagar said, adding, further investigations are underway.
