In the backdrop of the government's "Beti Bachao-Beti Padao" campaign, East Singhbhum district administration today felicitated over 50 shop-keepers for naming their shops after their daughters and sisters.

The initiative began with felicitation of Girish Chandra Choudhury, who owned a garment shop named after his sister Babita in Sakchi, district officials said.

Those shop keepers deserved accolades as they named their business establishment after their sisters and daughters the officials said.

The shops are located in places like Sakchi, Jail Chowk, Mango, Baradwari, Bhalubasa and Golmuri.

The initiative would help people understand the objective behind the "Beti Bachao-Beti Padao" campaign (save girl child and educate them), the officials said.
