50-year-old strangulated to death in UP

A 50-year-old man was allegedly robbed and strangulated to death here in the Shamli district, police said today.

According to police, the alleged robber also died in an accident while on his way back from the crime scene.

The incident took place yesterday when the robber entered the house of Om Prakash, an employee in a Sugar mill here, and looted his belongings after killing him, police said.

Police said they received an information that a person, identified as Johnny, who had met with a fatal accident, was found with the looted goods.

"A bike, one laptop, jewellery and cash were recovered near his body," the police official said.
 

In another incident, a 40-year-old farmer, identified as Raj Kumar, was allegedly shot at when he tried to resist an attack by an unidentified person here yesterday, a police official said.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital in a serious condition, he said, adding that the efforts are on to nab the culprit.
