50-yr-old farmer commits suicide in UP

Apparently depressed over crop loss due to recent untimely rain and hailstorm, a 55-year-old farmer allegedly committed suicide today by hanging himself from a tree, police said.

Rajpal had gone to his field to check the crop this morning but did not return home. His family launched a hunt and found him hanging from a tree, SP, Dehat Balendu Bhushan said.

The body has been sent for post-mortem examination and investigation is on, he added.

The deceased who had raised a loan of Rs two lakh from his kisan credit card was worried ever since his crop was damaged in the rain and hailstorm, his family members have told the police.
