51 BSF men get Republic day medals

Fifty-one personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) have been awarded with the President's police medals on the eve of the 65th Republic day.

The awardees include Inspector General P S Sandhu, Deputy IG Rajendra R Manral and Inspector Kashmir Singh (distinguished service) and IG A C Thapliyal and DIG B S Rawat under the meritorious service medals category.

The BSF is the designated border guarding force for Indian frontiers with Pakistan and Bangladesh and the paramilitary is also deployed to render a variety of internal security duties within the country.
