With an exciting line-up of eminent poets like Javed Akhtar, Munawwar Rana, and Waseem Barelvi, the 52nd Shankar-Shad Mushaira is all set to spread the warmth of Urdu poetry here tomorrow evening.
Organised by the Shankar Lall Murli Dhar Memorial Society, the annual get-together to cherish the legacy of Urdu poetry will be held here at Modern School.
The evening of Urdu poetry will witness poets like Rahat Indori, Anwar Jalalpuri, Popular Meeruthi, Manzar Bhopali, Iqbal Ashhar, Gauhar Raza, Iffat Zarrin, Nawaz Deobandi, Sheen Kaaf Nizam, Kaleem Kaisar among others.

"We put lots of efforts to engage poetry lovers and masses for the love of the language and the art of poetic oration. This language and culture in its entirety, along with the art of oration need to be preserved and nurtured against the face of extinction," Madhav B Shriram, chairman- Shankar Lall Murli Dhar Society, said.
In its earlier editions, legendry poets like Josh Malihabadi, Jigar Moradabadi, Faiz Ahmad Faiz, Kaifi Azmi, Ali Sardar Jafri and others have taken part with their compositions.
"In recent years, we have seen the revival of the language on a big scale with various literary festivals and events that are being organized and are delighted that we have been able to contribute in keeping a small slice of this tradition alive through our endeavour of the Shankar-Shad Mushaira," Shriram said.
