A 53-year old woman, a primary school dropout, was arrested today for allegedly practising as an allopathic medical practitioner in a nearby village, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided the clinic run by Visalakshi at Ambalakaranpatti and arrested her. They also seized syringes and some allopathic medicines.
During questioning, she confessed to have studied only upto fourth standard. She had working experience in hospitals, police said.
Despite a local Public Health centre existing in the village, the quack was running her clinic successfully capitalising on the ignorance of the villagers, they said.
