56 people died by jumping in front of metro trains since 2012

A total of 56 people have died after they allegedly jumped in front of metro trains in Delhi-NCR since 2012.

While 13 each death cases were reported in 2012 and 2013, 11 were reported in the succeeding year. As many as 19 such deaths have been reported till November 15 this year, Rajya Sabha was told today.

The figures include cases reported in metro premises under the jurisdiciton of police in Delhi, Uttar Pardesh and Haryana.

"Faridabad Police, Gautambudh Nagar Police and Ghaziabad Police have reported no case of death on rail tracks in Delhi Metro in the given period," Minister of State for Home Affairs Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary.
