578 airmen inducted into IAF

As many as 578 airmen were formally inducted into the Indian Air Force (IAF) after a passing out parade at the Air Force Station at Tambaram here today.

The airmen were were administered the oath of joining the air force fraternity by Air Commodore Kirti Khajuria, Air Officer Commanding of the Air Force Station, according to an official release.

Urging new recruits to strive for "professional excellence", Khajuria said with the induction of state-of-the-art aircraft, equipment and weapon systems, IAF was witnessing major changes in its operational philosophy.

"IAF today is on the path of transforming itself into a strategic force of great calibre," he said and urged the airmen to take sustained efforts towards continuous enhancement of their technical knowledge and skills.
 

The parade followed a drill display by the airmen.

The "Best All Rounder Trophy" was awarded to Raju Yadav of Mechanical Training Institute and Vipin Yadav of Workshop training institute on the occasion, the release said.
