Fifty-eight middle school students in the city of Cixi were treated at a hospital yesteray, state-run Xinhua news agency reported today.
Many students showed symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea after eating chicken provided by the school cafeteria.
They were later discharged from the hospital.
The city has launched a special inspection of school cafeterias to guarantee food safety.
