A total of 580 motorists and over 400 auto-rickshaw drivers were penalised for violating odd-even rule today.

Enforcement teams of Delhi government booked 302 violators while the others were challaned by Delhi Traffic Police, officials said.

Yesterday, a total of 488 motorists were challaned for violation of the fortnight-long car-rationing scheme whose second phase was rolled out in the city on April 15.

The odd-even rules, whose violation attract a penalty of Rs 2,000 under provisions of Motor Vehicles Act, are applicable between 8 AM and 8 PM, except on Sundays.

Meanwhile, the Transport Department also challaned 409 auto-rickshaw drivers who either refused to ferry commuters or overcharged them, taking advantage of the ongoing odd-even scheme.

Yesterday, 475 auto-rickshaw drivers were challaned for the same.
