Police today claimed to have busted a gang of drug peddlers in north Kashmir's Baramulla district by arresting six persons and recovering 400 bottles of banned substances from their possession.
"Police have arrested six persons involved in selling Codeine Phosphate bottles among the youth and recovered large cache of the banned drug from them," a police spokesman said.
He said a police team intercepted an auto-rickshaw driven by Fayaz Ahmad Bhat at National Highway near Zindri in Spore township of the district.

During the search of the vehicle, 150 bottles of Codeine Phosphate were recovered and two passengers - Khursheed Ahmad Khan and Altaf Ahmad Sofi - were arrested, the spokesman said.
Their questioning led to the arrest of four more persons - Showkat Ahmad Mir, Ishfaq Ahmad Dar, Lateef Ahmad Mir and Azad Ahmad Mir - and recovery of 250 bottles of the banned substance from them, the spokesman said.
He said the police has registered a case and a probe is on.
