6 convicted for killing mother-daughter duo over land dispute

A court here has held six persons guilty of killing two women over a land dispute in neighbouring Shamli district around 10 years ago.

Last evening, Additional District and Sessions Judge D C Singh found Naresh, Suresh, Ramniwas, Deshpal, Kala and Sonu guilty under section 302 of IPC and reserved his order on the quantum of sentence for Wednesday.

Raghviri Devi and her daughter Rajesh were crushed to death under a tractor by the accused over land dispute in Kairana on October 20, 2010, said government lawyer Jitender Tyagi.

A case was registered against the six accused who allegedly wanted to capture her land.
 

In another case, a fast track court here sentenced four members of a family, including a man, to 10-year imprisonment for attempting to kill his wife over dowry in Kairana in Shamli on October 6, 2010.

Fast track court judge, Manoj Mishra, also imposed a fine of Rs 14,000 each on the accused husband Sadik, his father Wakar, mother Shahida Begum and brother Haider after holding them guilty under IPC section 307.
