6 die in mishaps

including four picnickers were killed and eight injured in separate road mishaps in Odisha's Balasore and Jajpur districts.

While four persons died in Balasore district, two others succumbed to injuries due to an accident in Jajpur district, police said.

The jeep with a picnic party was way back to Digha area of East Midnapore district from Mayurbhanj when it collided with a truck on NH 60 near Barunagadia late last night.

While two people died on the spot, two others succumbed to injuries early today at Balasore district headquarters hospital where all the injured have been admitted, police said.

The deceased have been identified as Jagabandhu Sing, Jagmohan Sing, Dinabandhu Sing and Lingaraj Sing, all aged between 25 and 30 years.

 

The driver and helper of the truck fled.

A report from Jajpur said that Amar Kumar Das and Manoj Kumar Panda, in their 30s, died after their bike dashed against a road barrier put for expansion of National Highway-5.

The victims hailed from Palada village under Mangalpur police station area.
