6 die in Punjab due to heatwave

The Met office said that monsoon was expected to hit the region in the next three days.

Chandigarh received 20 mm of rains in the morning, the Met said.

Narnaul in Haryana had the highest temperature with a high of 42.6 degrees Celsius, up by five points.

In Punjab, Patiala was hottest with a high of 38.4 deg C, up by three points.

Hisar settled at a high of 42.2 deg C, up by three points, the maximum temperature at Rohtak was 41.7 deg C, up by four points.

Among other places, Ambala had a high of 39 deg C, four points above normal followed by 37.7 deg C at Chandigarh, up by two points, 36.7 deg C at Ludhiana, up by one point and 35 deg C at Karnal.
