6 held for cheating during RRB examinations

The Chandigarh Police today arrested six persons, all from Haryana, for allegedly cheating using mobile phones during a Railway Recruitment Board Examination held here on Sunday.

Police also recovered four mobile phones allegedly used in the act at the examination centre in the Government Senior Model School, Sector 46 here yesterday, police sources said.

The six, identified as Narender, Kuldeep and Deepak Ahlawat (all from Jhajjar), Devender and Gulab Singh (from Rohtak) and Dalbir Singh from Sonepat, were arrested under section 66A IT Act and various sections of the IPC, including 420 (cheating) and 120B (Conspiracy).

They were caught cheating with coded slips containing answer keys to the questions, they said, adding that further raids are being conducted to arrest the other associates who leaked papers and sent them answer keys through message.
 

Following a tip-off about the question paper leakage, RRB officials were alerted about a possible cheating attempt by candidates at various centers. A Special Team of the Crime Investigation Cell was also deployed outside examination centres, they said.
