Six inmates of a child observation home in Surajkund area escaped after cutting iron bars of a window, police said today.

While one of the juveniles was caught by police from Baghpat district, the others were still on the run, they said.

"Six juveniles escaped from Rajkiya Sampreshan Grih in Surajkund after cutting iron bars of a window yesterday," Nauchandi police station in-charge Harsharan Sharma said.

Two of the minors are from Baghpat and the rest belong to Meerut district, he said.

District Probation Officer Pushpendra Singh said that the incident is being probed. "Strict action will be taken against all those found guilty of negligence and a report on the matter would be sent to the Lucknow headquarters," Singh said.

In the past year, there have been reports of around 12 minors escaping from the observation home.
