Six persons, including three women and a toddler, were killed and four others injured when the vehicle they were travelling in collided with a truck on Dhule-Sholapur Highway in a village near here today, police said.
The incident took place early this morning when the SUV carrying ten persons collided with the truck head-on near Murumkhed village under Kannad police station limits, inspector of Kannad police station Subhash Bhujang said.
The deceased were identified as Afroz Khan (35), Najmabi Isak Sheikh (60), Mumtazbi Sheikh (60), Hakim Sheikh (45), Shabbir Sheikh (45), Saniya Sheikh (2), he said.

The injured were rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital in Aurangabad where condition of one of the passengers is stated to be critical, a hospital official said.
Bhujang said that all the passengers belonged to Kannad and nearby villages of Aurangabad district and they are yet to ascertain where they were heading to.
Traffic on the highway was grid-locked due to the accident, soon after which traffic personnel reached the spot to clear the jam.
