Six persons were killed and five critically injured today when a van in which they were travelling collided with a truck in Adlispur area here.
The incident occurred when the van's driver, while attempting to overtake, rammed into the truck coming from the opposite direction, police said, adding the van was on its way to Sisaiya from Lakhimpur.
The van's driver Saroj (32), Rambeti (28), Musafir (37), Chunna (40), Kanhai (35) and one more person, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, died in the accident, they said.
Personnel from the Isanagar police station rushed to the spot and admitted the injured to the district hospital.
The truck's driver fled after the incident, police said.
