At least six people were killed and 11 injured with some others feared trapped after a two-storey hotel building collapsed in Secunderabad this morning, police said.

"Six casualties have been reported and 11 others have been injured so far in the building collapse," Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma told PTI.

The two-storied Hotel City Lite, located on RP road in Secunderabad, crashed in the early hours.

Police, officials of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), fire department and CISF personnel were involved in relief and rescue operations to clear the debris and pull out trapped people.

The injured were being shifted to a nearby hospital, the Hyderabad police chief said after visiting the spot.

Some people were still feared trapped in the kitchen wing debris of the hotel, he added.

GHMC commissioner M T Krishna Babu, who was also at the site of the incident, said there were several old buildings in the area and notices had been served in this regard to their owners.

It was being verified if the ill-fated building was also in this list, he said.
