Six inmates escaped from a children's remand home in Pardeshipura area here, police said today.
The minors, facing charges under section 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC in a two-year old case, escaped from the remand home on Saturday night, Hiranagar police station's Sub-Inspector Shivraj Singh said.
The six inmates escaped from the remand home after attacking its guards with sharp-edged iron strips at the time of change of their duties. They also snatched a mobile phone from one of the guards before fleeing, he said.
A case has been registered in this regard and efforts are on to trace them, he added.
