Six members of a family, including the husband and in-laws of a woman were booked for allegedly torturing her as she gave birth to a girl child.

In a complaint filed with Kalwa police here, last night the victim, said, she got married on February 18, 2013. After a few months her relation with husband and in-laws strained due to their demand for money.

After some months when the victim delivered a girl child the in-laws started abusing and harassing her for money as she had delivered a girl and not a boy. They subsequently drove her out of the house.

"When I told them that I don't have a father and the demands cannot be fulfilled they started torturing me," the complaint filed with police station reads.

Earlier, too her husband had tortured her and in this connection a complaint was lodged with police. Unsuccessful efforts were then made to bring about a compromise between the couple.

The complainant told the police that her in-laws including her husband have refused to allow her to live with them and hence she was left with no option but to file a complaint.

Police have booked the family under relevant sections of IPC and no arrests have been made in connection with the complaint.
