Six panchayat secretaries have been suspended for allegedly consuming liquor at a conference hall of the Raigarh district office in Chhattisgarh, an official said on Wednesday.
The officials allegedly consumed liquor in the conference hall of Raigarh janpad office on May 4, he said.
However, the incident came to light on Tuesday after some pictures of the officials purportedly showing them enjoying liquor and snacks at the janpad office were published in local newspapers, he said.
Raigarh Zila Panchayat's Chief Executive Officer Chandan Sanjay Tripathi on Tuesday evening suspended the six secretaries with immediate effect after finding them prima facie guilty of consuming liquor at the janpad office's conference hall, an official statenent issued here said.
The suspended officials are: Shyam Chauhan (of Siyarpali village panchayat), Pyare Lal Patel (Kotmar), Rohit Patel (Kotarliya) and Vijay Sao (Manuapali), Rohit Patel (Binjkot) and Rohini Nayak (Rajghata), it said.
