6 policemen injured in attack by sand mafia

Six policemen, including two officers, were injured when sand mafia attacked them during a raid at Gandrao village in Shamli district, police said today.

The incident took place yesterday when a police team seized seven tractor-trolleys loaded with sand, they said.

Sub-inspectors Aadesh Kumar and Bachchu Singh and constables Ankit, Vikas, Shahzad and Dipanshu were injured in the incident and shifted to a hospital, police said.

Police have registered a case against 150 people and named 19 in the FIR, they said, adding the accused are absconding.
