6 workers suffer burn injuries as molten iron falls on them

At least six labourers received burn injuries after molten iron fell on them following a blast in the furnace at a steel plant here today, police said.

Two of the victims suffered serious injuries in the incident that took place at around 11 am, they said.

"Six labourers sustained burn injuries when hot liquid iron from the furnace fell on them at Shri Bajarang Power and Ispat industry in Urla industrial area on the outskirts of the city," Raipur Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Lal Umed Singh told PTI.

Soon after the mishap, the factory management rushed them to Kalda Burns Centre here for treatment, the ASP said.
 

"Two of the hospitalised were reported to be serious," the ASP said.

A case has been registered against the company and further probe is on, he added.
