A 6-year-old boy was allegedly murdered after being kidnapped from here by four persons who dumped the body in Upper Dari Doab canal in Gurdaspur district today.
Krishna Bhatia was kidnapped last evening while he was playing on the street in Kadda Mohall here as his mother went to a temple adjoining the house, Senior Superintendent of Police Harpreet Singh said.
The boy was murdered and his body dumped in Upper Dari Doab canal near Dhariwal in Gurdaspur district today, he said adding a team of divers has been called who would be pressed into service tomorrow to fish out the boy's body.
Jiwan Bhatial, the boy's father, had lodged a complaint with the police in this regard following which two persons who were his neighbours have been arrested, Singh said but refused to reveal their identities.
Hunt is on to nab the other two accused, police added.
