A leopard attacked a six-year-old girl when she was playing outside her house in Baghyani village under Adnala forest range in Pauri Garhwal district, a forest official said today.
The leopard dragged the girl into a forest yesterday evening, Forest Officer of Kalagarh Tiger Reserve Nishant Verma said.
The girl's friends informed the villagers, who rushed to the jungle to rescue her, Verma said, adding, her half-eaten body was found at night.

Speculating that it might have been the same leopard which had injured another girl in nearby village few days ago, Verma said Forest Department has decided to set up two trap-cages to catch the leopard.
As the area falls in the border of Pauri Forest Division, the leopard trapping operation will be carried out with the coordination of DFO of Pauri Forest Division, Verma said.
A compensation of Rs 3 lakh was granted to next of the kin of the victim by Forest Department.
