60 people fall ill in J-K after consuming food

60 people were taken ill after consuming food at a social function here and were admitted to local health centre in this district, police said today.

They had attended the social function in Chal Nathal village of Kathua district yesterday.

Of them, 27 persons, including 14 women and four children, were later referred to Sub-district Hospital at Hiranagar, police said, adding a case has been registered in this incident and investigation has been initiated.

The people fell ill after eating contaminated food and are suffering from diarrhoea and vomiting, a doctor who attended the patients said.

Treatment is going on and their condition is stable, he added.
