61 cases of atrocities against women including domestic violence, land dispute and pension were taken up during a special hearing programme by Rajasthan Women Commission (RWC) at Jaisalmer today.

Holding a day long meeting in Jaisalmer yesterday, RWC chairperson Dr Ladkumari Jain directed the Superintendent of Police (SPs) and Director of Social Justice and Empowerment to expedite cases of domestic violence, pension and atrocities against women, which are pending for years.

Addressing an awareness meeting later in the day, Jain said women should get free justice under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005.

The RWC chairperson also flagged-off a rally against child marriage organised by Urmul Trust and UNICEF, according to an official statement.
