There is a requirement of 62 judges in lower courts in the state while 34-35 vacancies will be filled up shortly after selection of judges by the High Court, Law Minister T.B.Jaychandra said today.
Speaking to reporters here, he said to minimise pending cases, alternate dispute resolutions would also be strengthened.
He said 162 new courts would be set up.

To elevate the standards of legal fraternity, a separate university would be set up in Dharwad-Hubballi with 21 law colleges affiliated to it, he said.
On appointment of judges in the High Court, the minister said vide collegiums new judges need to appointed and he will speak to the Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on the issue.
Sites are being identified for setting up Karnataka Arbitration Tribunal in Belagavi, he said.
